Seussical Auditions

Just a reminder that this Monday and Tuesday are the auditions for our next school play… SEUSSICAL JR!!!

You all received a flyer with a form on the back in your Wednesday envelope. The auditions are as follows:

Monday, Dec. 7th for K – 2 from 2-3:30/4:00

Tuesday, Dec. 8th for 3-5 from 2-3:30/4:00

Call backs will be Tuesday, December 15th.

Have your child come prepared to sing 1 minute of their favorite song!!

Performances will be in May and everyone needs to be able to attend the two night performances on May 13 and 14th at 6:30pm.

Rehearsals are Mondays and Wednesdays from 2-3:30, but the commitment for the chorus members (the younger kids) usually turns out to be once or twice a month.

VOLUNTEERS are always needed and appreciated to help out with rehearsals, especially the large ones with many of the younger children.

Thanks everyone for your participation!! We look forward to putting on a great School Musical for you in the Spring!!!

Any questions, please contact Amal Bisharat , Director.

Lafayette Updates

Here is some stuff that you will not want to miss!!! Please take the time to read this and mark your calendars!!

Tonight, Wednesday Nov. 4 at 7:00 pm we will be holding our next PTA meeting!! There is FREE childcare provided by the YMCA in the Bungalow so we’d like to see you all there! It would be great if there could be at least one person from every classroom in attendance.

On Monday, November 9 is Lafayette Fundraising Night at Chevy's Stonestown! What a great way to all get together, eat dinner and make money for our school. 25% of all of your bills will go to Lafayette!!! Tell your friends to come too and mention they are with Lafayette ES.

Veterans DayNovember 11 - Don’t forget that there is no school next Wednesday.

FALL FUNDRAISER - Due Date is November 18 - Here is a blurb from our Coordinator:

Greetings from your Fall Fundraiser Coordinator. I will be collecting money for both the See's Candies AND Art in Education greeting card fundraisers on November 18th. Please give your child's teacher the order forms and money no later than November 18th. The November 18th date insures that you get both items before the Holiday Break in December. The greeting cards will be in your child's backpack on December 14th and the See's Candy will given out either the first or second week in December. I don't have an actual date for the See's because they have given me a 7-14 day delivery window after I submit the orders. You can write ONE check if you are purchasing both the cards and candy but PLEASE paperclip both order forms together. Make checks out to Lafayette Elementary PTA.

The greeting cards make excellent gifts for grandparents and other relatives and PLEASE take the See's Candies order form to your workplace. If you need more order forms for the See's, they are available below the PTA board in the hallway. If you need more order forms for the greeting cards, please let me know. The order forms CANNOT be xeroxed due to a serial number on the form.

If you have any questions, please let me know. My email address is moc.oohay|jrarrah#moc.oohay|jrarrah.

November and December – For those of you who haven’t noticed, we are having a food drive at the school and would really appreciate your contributions of canned goods for those less fortunate than we are. I believe the classrooms are having a contest, so help your children win!!!!

Thanks everyone, hope to see you tomorrow night and next Monday!!!

P.S. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, March 6. That is the date of our 4th annual Silent Auction. If everyone could get just one donation, we should have a very successful auction! Thanks for your help!

Book Fair Evening Hours

Hi Everyone,

The book fair has really been terrific and has been met with great enthusiasm and lots of book buying. For those of you who haven’t been able to stop by because your schedules haven’t permitted…we do have EVENING HOURS. The book fair will be open on Thursday night from 5-8 for those of you who are picking up your children from aftercare, work full-time and couldn’t make it during the day, and those that just want a night out and view this as a good excuse.

Please stop by and check out our books. Remember, the proceeds from this fundraiser help stock our classrooms with great books for your children.

The Book Fair is open from 8am-3pm each day. If you are in the building for a Parent/Teacher conference…please stop by. It's on the second floor Room 218.

November 3rd Bake Sale

Hello, 5th Grade Parents,

We would like to put on a bake sale a week from tomorrow - November 3rd, election day. As Lafayette is a polling place, we could make lots of money selling baked goods during the day (and for kids after school!!) How about it???

We need lots of volunteers:

  • ideally at least 6 parents, if not more, to work the sale
  • ideally EVERYONE to donate baked goods.

Remember, this is for our esteemed, maturing, soon-to-be-middle-schoolers, OUR KIDS, for their end of the year celebrations. Please please help us make this happen.

Let me know as soon as possible if and how you can help. I plan to call people on Thursday for Friday to confirm/coordinate.

The Book Fair is open from 8am-3pm each day. If you are in the building for a Parent/Teacher conference…please stop by. It's on the second floor Room 218.

Evening hours this year will be (today) Tuesday and Thursday from 5-8pm. Light refreshments will be served.

See you at the Book Fair!
Thank you for your time and support.

The Book Fair is coming!

Lafayette's Fall Book Fair is only a few short weeks away! It will be held October 26 - 30, from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Last year, the PTA sold more than $10,000 of products and earned $5,800 in instructional, library, and classroom books and materials for our school.

Check out the Book Fair website at Lafayette Elementary School's Book Fair Homepage.

Volunteers are welcome — let Kali Zivitz, room parent, know if you want to help.

New this year:

  • During school hours, we will NOT be selling anything but books! No erasers, pencils, pens, games, etc. Those will be available after school and during the evening events only.
  • For Wimpy Kid fans, we will have the new book (which comes out on hardcover next week) in a special softcover edition for only $6.99!
  • We will have 2 evening shopping events, so parents and family members who can't make it during the day are welcome!

Mark your calendars now, and we'll see you at the Book Fair!
